A lot of furniture sold online is engineered board with a thin printed surface. It photographs
beautifully and it doesn't age well. Here's what you're paying for instead.
Real hardwood, either way
Solid walnut, white oak, maple, cherry and hickory — boards you can sand, refinish and hand down. On wide pattern-matched tops, genuine hardwood veneer over a solid core. Both are real wood.
A finish built for real life
Hand-applied stain sealed with catalyzed varnish — the same finish we put on restaurant tables that get wiped down forty times a day. Water rings and hot plates don't win.
Made for your room, not a warehouse
You pick the size, shape, wood, finish and base. Nothing is cut until you've approved it, because nothing exists until you order it.
A word on veneer, since the term gets abused. On pieces like our Starburst, a genuine hardwood veneer is laid over a stable hardwood core. That is the only way to carry a matched sunburst grain across a wide top without it cracking as the seasons change — it is a premium furniture-making technique, and a very different thing from a thin printed surface over engineered board. Fair questions
What do these actually cost?
Dining tables in the catalogue run roughly $1,900 to $6,500 depending on size, wood species and base. Walnut costs more than maple; a 10-foot table costs more than a four-seater. Every price is listed on the product page — no quote required to find out.
Is it solid wood, or veneer?
Depends on the piece, and we'll tell you which. Most of our tables are solid American hardwood. Some — the Starburst being the obvious one — use a genuine hardwood veneer over a stable hardwood core, because that's the only way to run a matched grain pattern across a wide top without it moving and cracking over the years. Both are real wood, and both are built to last. If you want to know exactly how a particular piece is constructed, ask and we'll tell you.
How long until it arrives?
8–10 weeks from order for residential pieces, because it doesn't exist until you order it. Nothing sits in a warehouse. If you need it for a specific date, tell us before you order and we'll be straight with you about whether it's possible.
Can you build something that isn't on the site?
That's most of what we do. Send dimensions, a sketch, or a photo of something you saw somewhere else. You'll get drawings to approve before anything is cut.
Do you ship outside Michigan?
Nationwide. Most residential pieces are hand delivered by our own drivers or a vetted partner rather than a freight network. White-glove delivery, with full assembly and packaging removed, is available if you'd rather not wrestle a hardwood table through a doorway yourself — see both options.
What happens if something's wrong with it?
Every piece carries a written limited warranty. Read it here before you buy, not after.
