Eight to ten weeks. Here is where they go.
Nothing we sell sits in a warehouse. When you order, we pick the lumber, mill it, build it and finish it — for your piece specifically. That takes time, and this page explains exactly what happens in it. If you need it sooner than that, we can often help. Ask us.
Tell us your date and the city it is going to. We usually answer the same or next business day.
Three reasons, and none of them are stalling
It does not exist yet
Your table is not picked off a shelf. The species, size, base and finish you chose determine which boards get pulled and how the piece is built. Production starts the day you order, not before.
Wood has to be worked slowly
Milling, glue-ups and joinery each need to settle before the next stage. Rushing those steps is how tops cup and joints open up a year later. The waiting is doing real work.
Finish needs to cure
Stain and topcoat go on in stages with drying between them, then the finish needs time to harden before the piece can be wrapped and shipped. This is the step that cannot be talked into going faster.
From your order to your room
Every build is different, so treat this as the shape of it rather than a fixed schedule. You will get real dates for your piece when you order.
Drawing and confirmation
We confirm dimensions, species, finish and base, and draw anything custom for your approval. Nothing gets cut until you have signed off. If you are matching an existing piece or a floor, this is when finish samples go out.
Lumber selection and milling
Boards are pulled for your piece and milled to size. On a live edge or a book-matched top, this is where the character of the finished table is decided, and it is not a step to hurry.
Joinery and assembly
Glue-ups, joinery, the base, and any hardware or mechanisms. Each stage has to rest before the next one starts.
Sanding and finishing
Progressive sanding, then stain and topcoat applied in stages with drying between coats. Then the finish is left to cure and harden properly.
Inspection, wrap and freight
Final inspection, blanket wrap, and onto the truck. Transit time depends on where you are — a delivery to Michigan is not the same as one to California.
Rush builds
We keep some room in the schedule for jobs that genuinely cannot wait — a house closing, a restaurant opening, a holiday. It is not an upsell button and it is not automatic. You ask, and we tell you honestly what is possible.
Tell us the date
Not "as soon as possible" — the actual day it needs to be in the room, and what is happening on that day. That is what we build the plan around.
Tell us where it is going
Freight across the country can add a week or more on its own. A rush to Grand Rapids and a rush to Los Angeles are two different problems, and the shipping leg often matters more than the build.
We check the floor
What you have specified affects it. Species on hand, finish complexity, whether the base is steel, and what else is in the shop that week all decide whether we can move it up.
You get a real date
We come back with a date we can actually hold, or we tell you we cannot make it. We would rather lose the order than miss the day you needed it.
Common ones
Is 8 to 10 weeks guaranteed?
It is our standard range and what most builds land in. You get a specific timeline for your piece when you order, and if anything changes we tell you rather than letting the date slide quietly.
Does a rush cost more?
It depends on what is involved. Moving a piece up sometimes means overtime or reshuffling other work. If there is a cost, we tell you before you commit — there are no surprises on the invoice.
What does delivery cost?
Free in Michigan and across the Midwest — Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and Kentucky. Everywhere else is a flat rate by region: $99 to the East and South, $299 to the Mountain West and Texas, $399 to the West Coast. Alaska and Hawaii are quoted individually — contact us before ordering. White-glove placement inside your home is available anywhere.
Why does my delivery address change the timeline?
Because the build is only part of it. Once your piece leaves the shop it still has to travel, and freight to the west coast takes materially longer than freight within the Midwest. If your date is tight, where you are can matter more than how fast we build.
Can you rush anything?
No. Live edge slabs, complex finishes, custom steel and large conference tables have steps that cannot be compressed without hurting the piece. We would rather say no than build something that fails in two years.
What if I need it later, not sooner?
Easy. Tell us and we will schedule the build so it arrives when you actually want it. Plenty of people order early for a move or a renovation.
When do I pay?
A deposit starts the build. The balance comes due before your piece ships. Your order confirmation lays out the exact terms.
