When it comes to choosing the perfect dining table, nothing combines style, functionality, and inclusivity quite like a round dining table. At Lumber2Love, we specialize in creating custom round dining tables in any size—from intimate 36″ rounds designed for small spaces to expansive 84″ round tables that make a bold statement in large dining rooms, restaurants, and event spaces.

Why Choose a Round Dining Table?

Unlike rectangular or square tables, round dining tables promote conversation and togetherness. With no corners, every seat is a good seat, making them ideal for family gatherings, dinner parties, and social events.

  • Better flow: Round tables allow for easier movement around the room.
  • More intimate dining: Everyone faces each other, enhancing connection.
  • Timeless appeal: Whether modern or traditional, they fit seamlessly into any design.

Any Size, Built Just for You

At Lumber2Love, we know that one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why we craft round dining tables in virtually any size you need.

  • Small spaces: 36″–48″ rounds are perfect for apartments, breakfast nooks, or cozy dining rooms.
  • Medium gatherings: 54″–72″ rounds comfortably seat 6–10 people, making them a versatile option for families.
  • Grand dining experiences: Our custom 84″ round dining tables make a dramatic centerpiece in large dining areas, upscale restaurants, and hotels, seating 12+ guests with ease.

Each table is handcrafted to your specifications, ensuring the size, base style, and finish are exactly what your space requires.

How Many People Each Size Seats

As a starting point, plan on about 24″ of edge per person. In our experience, a 48″ round seats about four, a 60″ round about eight, and a 72″ round eight to ten. Treat these as guidelines: wide upholstered chairs or armchairs need more room than slim side chairs, so measure the chairs you plan to use before choosing a diameter. Also keep proportion in mind—as a round grows, the center moves farther from each guest, which can make sharing dishes and talking across the table harder.

How Much Room You Need Around the Table

Allow roughly 36″ of clearance on all sides so chairs can pull out and people can walk behind them, and more along major walkways. To estimate the room you need, add that clearance to both sides of the diameter: a 60″ round with 36″ all around needs about 132″, or 11 feet. Measure the whole area, including kitchen islands, credenzas, and doors, and our Table Sizing Guide can help you settle on a diameter and chair count.

Design and Finish Options

Our tables are not only about size—they’re about style. From farmhouse to modern, every round dining table is customizable:

  • Base styles: pedestal, trestle, or contemporary metal
  • Edge profiles: clean modern cuts or classic bevels
  • Wood and finishes: choose from premium hardwoods like walnut, oak, or maple, with finishes ranging from light and natural to deep and dramatic

No matter your vision, Lumber2Love can bring it to life. Because screens and lighting change how wood looks, a Stain Sample Pack lets you compare walnut, white oak, and maple finishes in your own room.

Pedestal Bases and Expandable Rounds

A central pedestal frees the perimeter of corner legs, so guests have more legroom and you can slide in an extra chair without working around a leg. The pedestal still needs to leave enough foot and knee room, and its proportions must match the weight of a solid wood top. Browse our pedestal bases for options. If you need a compact table most days but host bigger groups, ask about an expandable round: leaves add seating when guests arrive, and depending on the design the round may open into an oval. The Round Starburst Pedestal Dining Table, for example, can be configured with center leaves.

Round or Rectangular?

Neither shape is universally better. Rectangular tables suit long dining rooms and very large groups. Round tables excel in square rooms, breakfast areas, and open-concept spaces, where the curve softens straight architectural lines and removes the “head of the table.” With no sharp corners, they are also more forgiving in busy homes with young children, and they double easily as a spot for homework, remote work, or game night.

Styling a Round Table

Center a pendant or chandelier over the top to anchor the dining area. Keep the centerpiece low, such as a bowl, a small arrangement, or candles, so it doesn’t block sightlines across the table. A round rug echoes the shape and a square rug adds contrast; either way, size it so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out.
